Art Gallery Of New South Wales
After visiting the website of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the most interesting piece of art is The Golden Fleece. This artwork was painted by Tom Roberts in 1894, and I think that is the most interesting one because of the strong cultural meaning it has.
This painting shows a scene where workers are shown shearing sheep during a busy day. The thing that
drew my attention the most is the way that Roberts capture the movement, the light and the atmosphere. You can almost fell the heat, the dust in the air and the intensity of the physical work. The composition is dynamic and full of life, but carefully structured, and that is what shows the ability and the attention of the artist. What I would highlighted from the Art Gallery of New SouthWales is how it’s collection balances with the exit the Australian heritage with the International Art. Although the gallery includes important European contemporary paintings, pieces such as The Golden Fleece stand out because they show and tell a unique Australian story, making the collection culturaly meaningful and rich in history.
